The Government is giving us plenty to be angry about these days. I don't know what makes me feel like chewing broken glass more: The arrogance with which Congress takes their positions and power for granted? Perhaps it's the massive legislation they've crammed down our throats without even bothering to read it themselves? “We have to pass the bill so we can find out what's in the bill?”
When it comes to fodder for negative campaigning the Democrats seem to be giving the opposition plenty to chose from. Recent statements from Republicans in both the House and Senate seem to imply that they're content to just keep feeding the Democrats rope until they have enough to hang themselves.
That's really what gets me more steamed than 20 pounds of snow crab leg clusters. Sure, they're in the minority; an opposition party by any definition of the word. But so far that's all they seem to be doing... opposing. Their game plan for this November seems to be to sit back and let the Democrats fail. That makes about as much sense as a football coach who's game plan depends on the other team not being able to score. Some time he's got to start thinking of winning.
This is a really good time to be a Republican running for public office. The best defense the Democrats have is to rely on the “Blame It On Bush” straw man. Their own legislative, I hesitate to use the word 'accomplishments', are so bloated, pork laden and complicated that their best tactic is to wait and hope that we'll just lap it up. The horn they've built for themselves is so convoluted that the people who made it can't figure out which end to toot it from.
The Democrats have given us something to vote against. I just wish the Republicans could give us something to vote FOR.
